So this is my every-night routine which goes from taking off my makeup- to cleansing- treating my skin! So I follow a few simple steps religiously every night in a desperate effort to keep my skin above "presentable"!
1. Take off your make up!
It doesn't matter whether you wear really light or heavy make up, or if you are wearing only eye make up, nor if you are really really tired. Removing your make up as best as you can is a must, if you want to protect your skin! In my routine I leave the house in the morning and return after the sun has set! Therefore I have make up on for a long period of time! When I do return home, however I wash my fave with Johnson's baby shampoo, which is really delicate and does not irritate the skin, in order to take away most of the make up, but if I am in a hurry I use make up removing wipes (any brand will do depending on your skin). I have tried using baby wipes as a cheap alternative, but they are much drier and thinner, therefore I fell they don't do as good a job and I find myself rubbing my face, which ain't good!
2. Cleanse
For this I use my old trusty Avene eau thermal Cleanance, which is a cleansing water/toner. I pour some onto a cotton ball and remove any residue left on my skin! I really love the feeling this gives my face! It's really gentle on the eyes and skin and good for all skin types. I have an oily complexion and I find that this moderates my skin, however I know this is good for people with dry skin as it feels a cashmere feel to the skin!
3. Exfoliate! (average 3 times/week depending on your skin)
I use the Clean and Clear blackhead clearing daily scrub which does an amazing job at reducing blackheads and also gently exfoliating the skin! I have tried using this daily and at times twice a day- day and night- but I found it somewhat drying! If you have really oily skin I guess you could get away with "overusing" this product, perhaps accompanied with a lightweight moisturizer, but those with drier complexions should be a bit more careful when using scrubs. Truth is you don't really need it as often as combination-oily complexions do!
Moisturize!
My combination skin does need a bit of help during the cold winter months therefore I use Cetaphil moisturizer which I believe you can find in big drugstores and online! It's a really good lightweight moisturizer which can be used on all skin types! It's not greasy at all, and if you want that extra moisture you can definitely build it up! It's also suitable for those who suffer from acne and various allergies that cause rushes etc.
P.S.: Any creams or treatments you might use, you can use them right after you 've finished all the above steps!
